KYLIE CHRISTENSEN – Cheer & Tumbling Instructor

Kylie Christensen is a 2013 graduate of Mahomet-Seymour High School. Kylie is currently a student at Parkland College for elementary education. Kylie has always enjoyed working with children, and that’s why she wants to continue her career with them. Cheerleading has been a part of Kylie’s life since junior high and continued until her senior year.

Kylie has been with Twist and Shout as an athlete since her freshman year. Kylie was given the opportunity to start coaching at TSA her junior year and has loved every minute of it. Last year Kylie was Assistant Coach for Angel Sharks (Tiny 1) and Zebra Sharks (Mini 1). Kylie is currently Assistant Coach for Crown Sharks (Youth 1) and Lady Sharks (Junior 2). Kylie also teaches numerous recreational cheer and tumbling classes.

Outside of Twist and Shout Kylie enjoys spending time with her boyfriend, friends and family.

REBECCA DANKOVICH – Dance Instructor

Rebecca began dancing at the age of 3 at a local studio back home. In 7th grade, she started dancing and taking training seriously at Elite Dance Academy in Homer Glen. Elite fostered an environment in which her passion could grow. While dancing there, she studied modern, ballet, jazz, hip hop, tap and pointe and was also a part of the studio’s dance company. Rebecca then decided to continue her dance studies and training at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Going into senior year, she has studied modern, ballet, improvisation, choreography and creative dance for children at the university level.

In her spare time Rebecca likes to dance and choreograph.

KAYLA HARSHA – Cheer & Tumbling Instructor

Kayla Harsha began her cheer career around age 6 when she began participating in cheer clinics at Mahomet-Seymour High School. She then continued and cheered for both the MSJH and MSHS cheerleading squads. Kayla is a junior at Eastern Illinois University majoring in Early Childhood Education. This is Kayla’s third season with Twist and Shout and she couldn’t be more excited to get started!

During her free time she enjoys spending time with her friends and family.

MICHAEL HOCH – Cheer & Tumbling Instructor

Michael is a 2004 graduate of Mahomet-Seymour High School. Michael has over 15 years of experience in tumbling and gymnastics and over 5 years of experience with competitive cheerleading. Michael began tumbling with a local tumbling program at the age of 5. After 3 years he enrolled at Illinois Gymnastics Center in Champaign, IL where he continued his training until 2004. While at Illinois Gymnastic Center Michael was involved with the power tumbling team as well as the boy’s gymnastic team. After graduating from high school Michael continued tumbling with several local gyms.

Michael Began coaching at Twist and Shout in 2009, assisting in several recreational classes. After his first year Michael began instructing full time and was introduced to the world of competitive cheerleading. After 3 seasons of being Head Coach of three different teams, Michael is currently the All-Star Director for Twist and Shout All Stars (TSA). Michael also teaches several recreational tumbling and cheer classes.

Michael is USASF certified in Levels 1-5.

Outside of Twist and Shout Michael enjoys traveling and spending time with family and friends.

MAGGIE KINNAMON – Dance Instructor

Maggie Kinnamon has been teaching dance professionally for 16 years. She was a dance major at the University of Illinois and then got her Masters Degree in Elementary Education. She teaches Dance and Drama as part of the Fine Arts Program in the Urbana Elementary Schools, and has taught various classes at Twist and Shout since it opened in 2010. Maggie has a passion not only for dance, but for working with children. She has three children of her own, who are all involved in dance, tumbling, and cheer at Twist and Shout. Maggie strives to provide a positive, fun environment in her dance classes, while teaching proper technique and challenging her students to work hard and do their best. She feels one of her greatest strengths as a dancer is choreography, and looks forward each year to highlighting her students’ hard work with outstanding dances at recital.

In Maggie’s limited free time she enjoys reading, taking nature walks and performing in plays.

LOUISE MATHEWS – Dance Instructor

Louise Mathews has been dancing since she was 3 years old. She is trained in ballet, jazz, modern, and tap and participated in two pre-professional dance companies at the Center of Creative Arts in St. Louis, Mo. She is currently a senior at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign studying elementary education. She has previously taught dance classes at the Center of Creative Arts and cannot wait to get started with her third year at Twist and Shout!

In her free time Louise likes to play board games with her family, spend time with her friends and create scrapbooks.

KRISTIN MCCOY – Dance Instructor

Kristin McCoy is a professional dance artist and yoga instructor based in Urbana, IL. She has been training in dance for 25 years, and has a Bachelor’s of Fine Arts in Dance from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. She teaches many forms of dance technique including modern/contemporary, ballet, jazz, and lyrical. Her dance students learn to be stronger, to increase their body awareness, and to work optimally with their bodies. As a performer, Kristin has worked with choreographers Jennifer Monson, Sahar Azimi, Sheldon Smith, Renee Wadleigh, Renee Archibald, Tamin Totzke, and many others. She has choreographed dances that have been shown at Krannert Center for the Performing Arts, the Virginia Theater and in local schools. This will be Kristin’s second year teaching at Twist and Shout.

ABBEY PEDDYCOART – Cheer & Tumbling Instructor

Abbey Peddycoart is a USASF levels 1-5 certified coach and ASEP certified for Coaching in the state of Illinois. After dancing for 12 years she cheered for 6 years. She has placed in the top ten at the IHSA cheerleading state. After cheering she began coaching. Abbey has coached high school for 4 years and All-Stars going on 7 years. She enjoys being able to share the world of cheerleading with her kids and show them what all cheerleading has to offer.

COLLEEN SCHUTTE – Dance Instructor

Colleen’s love for dance began at the age of 5 when her parents signed her up for her first dance class, and she continued to attend classes all the way through her senior year of high school. Colleen trained in various styles including 12 years of ballet, 11 years of jazz, 6 years of lyrical, 3 years of modern, 3 years of tap, 1 year of hip hop, and 1 year of pointe. Colleen was a member of the Mahomet-Seymour High School Dance Team all four years of high school. During those four years, the team worked together to earn 3 state championships. Colleen began teaching dance classes as a part time job during college. She also coached the Mahomet-Seymour dance team for one season before transferring to ISU to continue pursuing her degree in Secondary Math Education. She currently teaches math at Clinton High School, and is looking forward to sharing her knowledge and love of dance.

In her free time Colleen enjoys a variety of activities but especially reading, spending time with her family and friends and enjoying the outdoors.

JESSICA WATTLES – Creative Director & Dance Instructor

Jessi Wattles has been dancing her way through life since age 2. At the age of 5 she began dancing competitively and fell in love with being on stage. Along with competing for several competition teams in central Illinois, Jessi studied ballet at Millikin’s preparatory school. As a teen she began teaching and found her calling in choreography and working with children of all ages. Jessi has worked with the Mahomet-Seymour High School dance team for the past 2 years and will be doing their choreography again this season. In 2010 she was asked to judge at national level talent competitions across the country, and has continued doing so. Currently Jessi is enrolled at Parkland College majoring in Sociology and would like to one day be a child advocate for the CASA organization. She is the mother of a wonderful 4 year old daughter who can’t wait to start cheer and tumbling, and further her dancing. Jessi is very excited to be a part of the Twist and Shout family and promises to provide fun challenging classes for kids at all levels of dance.

When she isn’t teaching or in class Jessi enjoys spending time with her little girl, reading, baking, arts and crafts, and playing outside.
